Welcome

Welcome to JohnMDabbs.com

I’m John M. Dabbs, a Travel Correspondent, photojournalist, and public health/EMS specialist reporting from destinations across the United States and around the world. My work lives at the intersection of travel, culture, nature, and human resilience — the places where landscapes shape communities and communities shape experience.

Drawing on decades of field experience in emergency medical services and mountain rescue, I bring an uncommon level of credibility and situational insight to my reporting. Whether I’m documenting trail towns rebuilding after major storms, exploring sustainable travel in Baja Sur, or covering culture and heritage in Europe and the Caribbean, my goal is simple:
to tell meaningful, place-driven stories grounded in accuracy, curiosity, and respect.

What I Do

Travel Correspondence
Field reporting and destination storytelling focused on culture, nature, environmental change, and community resilience.

Photojournalism
Editorial photography from mountain corridors, river landscapes, international retreats, and global cultural regions.

Public Health & Safety Expertise
Clear, accessible analysis on safety, preparedness, and how travel intersects with public health and emergency response.

My Approach

I believe great travel storytelling is rooted in firsthand experience — walking the trails, talking to locals, sitting with the history, and seeing the landscape with my own eyes. That’s the lens I bring to every assignment.
