Write or Wrong

Write or Wrong

Time to get to work.

How often do we think about putting our thoughts onto paper or simply pecking them away onto our laptop or computer?

It is very important for us to makes notes and take the time to put things down if we are to be able to recall them better in the future — lest we remember events wrong. I’ve read a few reports that actually refer to writing notes down manually, using a pen (or pencil) and paper is actually more conducive to memory recall. This is why executive journals are becoming more and more popular among the upper echelons of business and government… that and it just looks cooler. Remember when iPads were all the rage?

What is important is for us to write down what is important to us, whether it be in bullets, longhand, shorthand, memory jogging keywords — whatever works for you. The same can be said for simply writing.

To Write is to express your views

To Write is to express your views. It is imperative for us to put our views down while making notes or writing our papers, articles, stories… it doesn’t matter the subject. What matters is that we put our thoughts down with the necessary language and thought that will lead us to be able to recreate our thoughts and feelings at a later time, or for us to convey our emotional and rationalizing thoughts to others.

I find that writing about a subject often helps me realize my true beliefs on a subject that may have been otherwise obscure. The writing process allows me to pick apart the pieces of a story or subject until I can quantify and describe what it is that really intrigues or drives me on a topic.

For young girls, a diary is often viewed as important. Thinking about it in this context makes me wonder if the complexity and emotional changes that occur within a young woman as her world explodes beyond what she had previously known are actually quite benefitted from the emotional outlet that can be shared with a diary. The same can be said of grown adults or anyone for that matter. The ability to put one’s thoughts down on paper is paramount to being able to decipher our thoughts and be able to think about them in a manner that may actually enable us to make sense of our meanderings.

How do we put those books on paper?

With the great minds who choose to share what they have created in their heads, we often listen to the stories spread from one generation to another, lest the able-bodied person put their thoughts on paper and convey those stories in explicit detail to others who could share in their works.

I hazard to guess the number of people who would have succumbed to fame and fortune if they had only chosen to put what they had created in their mind’s eye down on paper, either by themselves or using another to document their thoughts. It is no wonder some people seem very eccentric while others are merely thought of as crazy or weird.

Maybe it’s all in the perspective of those who can convey their thoughts in some manner to share easily with others, vs those who can’t write them in story form.

Enough of my banter for now. Thank you for reading my thoughts on writing.
